Scarclaw stood at the entrance to the valley. It was his valley, nobody dared to enter it. At least, not anymore. Not since that wolf the previous moon. After leaving the pelt at the entrance to his valley, none had even thought of coming in. Sitting back on his haunches, he grinned a savage, yellow-fanged grin. Standing up, he stretched out his legs.

Mystic glanced around warily, she had smelled another wolf but wasn't sure where they were. She had never come this far but she liked traveling and had been curious about it for days. She sniffed the air, clear, and relaxed again.

Scarclaw turned his head from side to side, seeking a scent that eluded him . Somebody's here, but where? he thought as he turned around, facing the entrance to the valley.

Mystic slowly made her way into the valley, trying to avoid attention from anything that might be around. Her gray fur stood out but she kept to the shadows, becoming almost invisible.

Mystic saw a lake and warily approached it. Well, nothing's happened so far. Maybe they left, she thought as she stepped into the open, glancing around.

Scarclaw had glanced towards the lake in time to see Mystic step into the open. Got you he thought savagely as he started running for the lake.

Scarclaw had the trail now. There wasn't any way to shake him now. He slowly closed the gap between them.

Mystic swam across the river, knowing it would hide her scent and swam out when she was further down. She quietly got out and walked to the other side to watch.

Scarclaw stopped at the river bank. "Clever, taking to the river. However, when you get out, you leave wet prints to follow easily." he said, running alonside the river, until he found her prints. THen he started following them.
